  2. I will enjoy following your project, looks great. Did you get your mechanical and technical aptitude from your father?? I know that your mother enjoyed jigsaws but this is ridiculous!!

Congratulations, what a wonderful project for Alex & Shonie to admire and oogle over(or pick the colour scheme!)
I like the rego, and will keep tabs on the work in progress. Hopefully will get to see progress in person on our next visit.
Good luck and best wishes with the build.

  6. James, I am mightily impressed with this website! You, Shony and Alex obviously have your hands full. This is obviously a fantastic undertaking. The Russell gene pool is obviously to the fore, although your old uncle can be relied upon for some good feedback!

  9. Hi James,
You may know me from my RC days - Altitude RC, with Luke Chang up in Auckland. I also have decided to build an RV - but have chosen the -7 model, with my lovely lady and dolly bird, Tracey! We both work at Ardmore, Tracey in Avionics and I in Warbird restoration at AvSpecs (see warbirdrestoration.co.nz). We have our kit including engine and 3-blade prop, just waiting on completion of current T-51 Mustang project so we can get started on our own plane.
Hope you are well, and will bookmark your site to keep tabs on your progress. If you come to Auckland at any time, send an email and touch base! There are currenty 2 RV’s and an F1 rocket being built to have a look at, as well as one RV6 flying.
How you find the time to maintain life, health, family, buildtime AND a website is beyond us! Bye for now, Richard and Tracey

  10. Hi James,
Good work with the site. It is great to be able to track the progress and pitfalls of a fellow kiwi’s build project.
I’m still in the long, drawn out, should I/ shouldn’t I, what can I afford stage. RV9a seems to be the choice for me at this point. Got to get the mortgage wrestled to the floor first tho, so lots of mind changing time yet. Still, having something to dream about/ aim for helps keep you on the straight and narrow!
Am encouraged by your site, I hope others will be too.
Will track your progress with interest. Best of luck.
    George.
